When we saw the Great Smoky Mountains Hot Air Balloon Festival was happening in Townsend, we knew we wanted to go—and, of course, bring you along for the experience.

veryone knows the mainstream things to do in Sevier County: the outlet shopping, Dollywood and all it has to offer, the hiking, the biking, and the restaurants along the main drag (the Parkway). But we love finding hidden gems for you to explore while you’re visiting the area.

You can leave behind the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and take a stroll around Townsend, which is our favorite way to see the sights.
